La particolare struttura fisica della faina è un adattamento alla vita terrestre-arboricola che conduce, e le conferisce agilità funambolica che, ad esempio, le permette di camminare spedita su un cavo del telefono, o, partendo da ferma, caricarsi come una molla e saltare in linea retta da un albero ad un altro distante più di 2 mt.
